The wave of layoffs taking place over the Coronavirus pandemic has hit national companies, as the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) laid off employees "to ensure its continuity in the future".

The government of Bahrain announced a BHD 4.3bn economic stimulus package to support the country's citizens and private sector and counter the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ministry of Labor and Social Development confirmed that all administrative and technical measures have been taken, in coordination with all competent parties, to implement the cabinet's decision issued in its session on (January 27, 2020).

The local Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper said that Bahraini employees in a local cleaning company complained that they haven't been paid since last March (4 months), claiming that the employer doesn't have budget.

Commenting on speech of Bahrain Businesswomen's Society president Ahlam Janahi in which said that her society will organize "awareness sessions" for the potential candidates for upcoming elections, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development slammed Bahrain Business Women's Society, saying that the society has no right to work in politics.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Development Undersecretary Sabah al-Dossari, said that around 150 thousand workers will be included in the decision to impose a curfew on work at noon.

The Minister of Labor and Social Development and head of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Jameel Humaidan, said that a new formation will soon be announced for the Social Insurance Organization, to include representatives of workers.
