Bahrain Mirror: Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain condemned the authorities' arrest of citizens for exercising their right to freedom of expression in preparation to refer them to trial over participating in a demonstration in support of Palestine.
The organization condemned, in a statement on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, "the security campaign launched by the government of Bahrain on the right to peaceful demonstration and expression of opinion," demanding "to stop the summons it carries out over the protests that took place on Friday, October 13, in a number of areas in protest against the aggression on Gaza."
ADHBR called on the government of Bahrain to "immediately release those detained on charges of demonstrating: Mohammed Hassan Al-Qalaq (from Al-Naim), Sayed Ayman Mostafa Alawi (from Al-Ghuraifa), Yaser Saeed (from Salmabad), and Ali Joma'a (from Samaheej), who were brought before the prosecution on charges of supporting the Palestinian people."
While stressing "the right to demonstrate guaranteed by international law," the organization called on the government of Bahrain to "fulfill its obligations and protect the right to peaceful expression and assembly."
