Bahrain Mirror: The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights stressed that "responding to the UN's request to assess prison conditions and provide the required technical support is a step that the Bahraini authorities should interact with, instead of its misleading media statements."
BFHR praised in a statement on Thursday, August 31, 2023, the stance of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on its concern about the deteriorating prison conditions in Bahrain, stressing "the inherent right to freedom of all prisoners of conscience who go on hunger strike due to poor conditions."
"With a hunger strike by several hundred prisoners over conditions in Jaw prison in Bahrain now into its 24th day, we are deeply concerned for the wellbeing of those involved," the United Nations stated on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
The UN said via its account on "X" platform that it is ready to conduct an assessment of prison conditions in the country and provide advice to authorities in line with international standards and it is also ready to provide other technical support.
