EU Special Representative for HR Expresses Concern about Prisoners' Hunger Strike in Bahrain

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Eamon Gilmore, EU Special Representative for Human Rights announced via "X" platform that "I share the concern of the United Nations about the continued prisoner hunger strike in Bahrain, and the humanitarian situation of all involved, including Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja whose case I have followed for many years."
"With a hunger strike by several hundred prisoners over conditions in Jaw prison in Bahrain now into its 24th day, we are deeply concerned for the wellbeing of those involved," the United Nations stated on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
The UN also said that it is ready to conduct an assessment of prison conditions in the country, provide advice to authorities and provide other technical support.
