Bahrain Mirror: Detainee Fadel Abbas in Jaw Central Prison confirmed that he was prevented from entering the prison's clinic on Sunday, August 20, 2023, despite his deteriorating health condition, noting that the prison administration portrays his situation as "good". He said "I told it [administration] that I underwent a surgery and my health condition was deteriorating, however, the administration told me, you're "beaten" and we can't do anything for you."
Detainee Abbas said in an audio recording: "I need treatment and I feel pain all over my body, and I was transferred to the emergency department at the military hospital three times during the past week. The last examination in the hospital showed an infection at the place of the surgery caused by the prison administration's delay in my treatment."
He confirmed that after returning from the hospital where he had his surgery performed, he met with an official in the prison administration hoping that he would give him the treatment he needs, but the official surprised him by telling him: "You have to serve a sentence in solitary confinement for 7 days." Abbas confirmed to the official that there has been no statement against him since the beginning of 2023, so "where did this verdict come from?"
Abbas stressed that his color turned to blue and his blood sugar level reached 2.9, asking: "Does the prison administration want me to get a dead body out of the prison?" holding the prison administration and the Ministry of Interior responsible for his deteriorating health.
"I am ready to die for the sake of dignity," he concluded.
