Bahrain Mirror: Prisoner of conscience in Jaw Central Prison, Mr. Hasan Mushaima, leader and head of the "Haq" opposition movement, said that "the news he receives about the conditions of the beloved figures and prisoners breaks his heart," as their hunger strike reaches its 13th day.
Mushaima added, during a phone call that the prison administration did not allow him to complete: "My heart breaks on the figures and prisoners, and if it were not for my health condition, I would not hesitate for a moment to join them, and I ask God Almighty to protect them from all evil and release them."
Hundreds of political detainees in Jaw Central Prison began an open hunger strike on Monday, August 7, 2023, to demand their rights after the authorities ignored their demands and continued to violate their rights with unfair decisions such as isolation, denying them of the right to education and neglecting their health care, as well as the system of visits and congregational prayer.
Hasan Mushaima is one of the leaders of the February 14, 2014 revolution movement and the oldest political prisoner in Bahrain. He is serving life sentence for demanding democratic change.
