Bahrain Mirror: The Secretary General of the General Federation of Workers Trade Unions in Bahrain (GFWTUB), Hassan Al-Halwaji, stressed "the need to work with the principle of equal opportunities between foreign workers and national workers, by setting a minimum wage for each profession, so that the expatriate worker does not become cheaper than the Bahraini worker, and thus, he is not chosen on this basis, leaving Bahrainis unemployed."
During the opening of the "Workers University Program - Young Trade Union Leaders Graduation Project", held by the Union in Manama, Al-Halwaji stressed that "Bahraini will not be the best option as long as these differences exist, and patchwork solutions exist," calling for "setting up clear strategies for Bahrain's labor market."
Al-Halwaji stressed that "employing Bahrainis with value-added wages, as in the Union's vision to reform the labor market, will revive the Bahraini economy," explaining that the problem of "unemployment can only be solved by the principle of equal opportunities, and imposing the solution through a clear political decision." He stressed that "the lack of clear economic plans that determine job vacancies in Bahrain after several years makes young people engage in specialties and then discover later that that the labor market does not absorb, as in law."
