Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq Society said that "the ink on the lie of coexistence, freedoms and sectarian pluralism had barely dried when the authority summoned the scholar Sheikh Mahmoud Al-A'ali for interrogation."
Al-Wefaq said in a statement that "the authority could not complete the lie, or wait for a few days, as it has been only few hours after announcing in the newspapers the success of the Ashura season, which it said it confirms that Bahrain is an open and homogeneous society and an oasis of brotherhood and peace," and that the season highlights "the pillars of religious freedoms and sectarian pluralism," until it summoned Sheikh Al-A'ali for interrogation. Al-A'ali is a senior scholar who delivered a speech on the eve of 10th of Muharram in the center of the capital, Manama, which the authority restricts against its participants.
The society ridiculed the statement of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa that "Bahrain enjoys freedoms and sectarian pluralism" and that it is "an icon of coexistence and freedoms," considering that "the authority is an icon of intervention, restriction and in pursuing the Ashura season."
The society added that "Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa thwarted the media plan of the authority with his statements at the beginning of the season," explaining that "instead of promoting the slogans launched by the heads of power on coexistence, freedoms and pluralism, he proved the sectarianism of the authority and its persecution after preventing religious tourism for the people of the countries of the region, and preventing processions from hosting preachers and eulogy reciters from abroad."
Al-Wefaq reported that "11 areas were affected by the regime's violations of the Ashura manifestations, which included the flags and banners that were hung in the internal streets," pointing out that "the Ministry of Interior carried out its violations in midnight so that the cameras can't capture its attacks as in previous years," considering this "a great security achievement."
The security authorities summoned on (Sunday, July 30, 2023) the prominent Shiite cleric, Sheikh Mahmoud Al-A'ali, for interrogation over a speech he delivered on the 10th eve of Muharram in the capital, Manama.
Sheikh Al-A'ali delivered the central speech in the capital, Manama, on the 10th eve of Muharram, in the presence of thousands of citizens who chanted slogans against the Israeli entity, and in support of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, and slogans related to Ashura.
Participants put the Israeli flag on the ground and stepped on it, led by senior scholars, while these videos were widely circulated in the entity's media outlets.
