Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution suspended on Tuesday (July 11, 2023) Ali Mhanna and Majeed Abdullah, known as "Haj Sumoud" for a week over charge of taking part in funeral procession of martyr Mohammad Abdullah Hasan Yaackoub (Al-A'ali), head on monitoring department at Salam for Democracy and Human Rights, Ibtisam Al-Saegh, confirmed.
Al-Saegh commented in a tweet on an audio recording for Haj Sumoud "When human rights awareness is stronger than excessive repression of freedoms, there is Haj Majeed Abdullah's response after the Terrorism Prosecution ordered his detention for a week, on the charge of participating in the funeral procession of medical negligence victim Mohammed Al-A'ali, "remaining steadfast on the path of truth so we are all fine", which is a blatant example of the Bahraini security choices proving their failure."
Mhanna said in an audio recording that they were transferred from one police station to another and returned to the first station before being they were presented to the Public Prosecution, denouncing the authorities participating in the funeral as "a crime that requires arrest and imprisonment."
He added: "They arrested us 4 days after the funeral and did not give us any time, yet it has been a year since I have attempted to get my son out of isolation, but they have ignored my request."
