Bahrain Mirror: The "Tactical Report" website revealed that Bahrain is in talks with Israel Aerospace Industries for the procurement of the Scorpius electronic warfare (EW) system for hundreds of millions of dollars.
The website stated that "The Kingdom continues efforts to acquire Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS), including drones, smart missiles and radar systems," indicating that "the capabilities of this system have triggered the Bahraini interest."
The Scorpion uses beams of waves directed against their targets instead of missiles or bullets to disrupt electronic sensors, data communications, navigation and radar.
The exact value of the deal has not been revealed yet, but it is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars, according to sources at the Israeli company.
The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute estimated Bahrain's military spending at $1.4 billion in 2022, equivalent to 3.2% of GDP.
The volume of Israeli military exports to the countries that signed the normalization agreements with the occupation entity, most notably Bahrain and the UAE, increased to about $ 3 billion in 2022.
