Abdulwahab Hussein: Independence in Choosing Friday Prayer Imams, Speech Content is Inalienable Rights

Bahrain Mirror: Prisoner of conscience Abdulwahab Hussein considered that having “independence in choosing Imams of Friday prayers, congregational prayers, and the content of religious discourse is an inalienable right, and its reinforcement is a great gain that distinguished us. We paid with our blood for it historically and we continue to do so in the present time,” stressing that “it will not remain for us without a price to pay.”
Hussein said, in a statement issued from inside Jaw Central Prison on Thursday, June 15, 2023, that “independence is the way to preserve the religion of monotheism. It is not preserved at all without it, and it is the way to gain the trust of believers, giving them a sense of tranquility and security in their religion and world.”
“For the sake of independence, we rejected the cadre of Imams, and it is not rational to accept it,” he said, explaining that “Islam is a comprehensive way of life, and politics is an integral part of it and is not separated from it.”
He continued: "One of the most amazing things is the call of some to preserve the sanctity and purity of the discourse and religious platform by keeping them away from politics, as if politics in the concept of these people is an abomination and filth, and then they call on us to accept this policy in order to maintain unity and love, as if religious discourse is a speech hatred and division. They ignore that what is in fact an abomination, and malicious and filthy is only what causes corruption, injustice, division and destruction, and is never a reason and a path to righteousness, justice, construction, reconstruction, unity, equality and happiness.”
He went on to say that “This is what makes us reject politics in this sense, resist it, and strive to reform it in accordance with the lofty Islamic values and the right legal rulings, and replace it with what is good for us and for humanity.”
