Bahrain Mirror: The Jordanian authorities handed over to the United Arab Emirates Khalaf Al-Rumaithi, an Emirati who holds the Turkish nationality, to be retired over the charge of "establishing a secret organization affiliated with the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood", the Emirati state news agency, WAM, reported.
Al-Rumaithi left Emirates in 2012 after refusing to act as a false witness in the "UAE 94" case, and was sentenced by an Emirati court on July 2, 2013, to 15 years in prison in the same case.
Six months later, the UAE put his name on the internationally wanted list, but the Interpol rejected its request and the Emirati request for his arrest became limited to the Arab countries.
On May 7, 2023, the Jordanian authorities arrested Al-Rumaithi at the "Queen Alia International Airport" in the Jordanian capital, Amman. He was released on a 3000 JD bail, and the judge set May 21 as a day to consider Al-Rumaithi's case.
However, the Jordanian authorities rearrested him the following day from a coffee shop in Amman and forcibly disappeared him. Jordan's attorney general revoked his bail and scheduled a hearing to consider the UAE's request for Al-Rumaithi's extradition on May 16.
The UAE authorities announced on the following day that they had been handed over from their Jordanian counterpart, Khalaf Al-Rumaithi, dubbing him a "terrorist", although he was not convicted of a final verdict and must legally be retried.
