Bahrain Mirror: Jaw Prison guards attacked on Sunday (May 14, 2023) political prisoners who are sentenced to death, injuring a number of them.
The director of the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD), Sayed Ahmed Al-Wadaei, revealed that the guards took the two political prisoners, Mohammad Ramadan and Hussein Marzouq, to an unknown place outside building No. 6, and stormed the building under the pretext of searching and sabotaged the prisoners' belongings.
Al-Wadaei added, in tweets on "Twitter", that the prisoners protested against the guards' sabotaging of their belongings. However, the guards responded to the prisoners with violent beatings, which led to the injury of a number of prisoners.
Al-Wadaei suggested that the prison administration would cut off contact with the prisoners in the building, pointing to the recurrence of assaults on political prisoners in 2023. He explained that the attack on prisoners on Sunday was the second in terms of seriousness since the attack on prisoners in Building No. 3 in January 2023.
He called for conducting an urgent and immediate investigation into the incident and the disclosure of the fate of the two prisoners, Ramadan and Marzouq, saying: "Prisoners must be allowed to contact their families, and those involved in the assault must be held accountable."
