Bahrain Ranks Last among Gulf States in Press Freedom

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain ranked the last among the Gulf countries in the 2023 Press Freedom Index, according to Reporters Without Borders.
The organization showed that Saudi Arabia came in the fifth rank in the Gulf in press freedom, Oman fourth, the UAE third, Kuwait second, and Qatar first.
Bahrain has moved down the rankings table by 4 places in the global index from 2022, from 167th to 171st rank among the world's 180 countries.
The Bahrain Press Association documented 41 infringements against journalists, media professionals, and civil society activists during 2022.
The association indicated in its 13th annual report entitled "Bahrain 2022: The Dead Island," that "the number of documented acts of infringement of freedom of expression since the February 2011 uprisings until December 2022 rises to about 1811 violations."
