Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Bahrain has recorded the highest number of Coronavirus cases in one day. 330 COVID-19 cases and 27 recoveries were recorded in Bahrain in one day only, the Ministry of Health's data revealed. The cases were detected after 6,587 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours.
The accelerated increase in the number of cases on a daily basis is alarming and frightening, noting that most of the cases are among expatriates, a situation which Bahrain is striving to control through precautionary measures. However, it is not easy to put the pandemic under control due to the large number of low-income expatriates, more than 450,000, who live in poor conditions. In only nine days in May, the number of infections reached 1,764, which is considered very high and frightening.
At a press conference held by the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus, on May 6, at the Crown Prince's Center for Medical Research and Training at the Military Hospital, Dr. Walid Al-Manea, undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, highlighted that the capacity of isolation and treatment centers is 2,573, while the capacity of the precautionary quarantine centers is 2,474.
Three days after the press conference, on Saturday, May 9, the number of infections in Bahrain reached 2,711, including two critical cases and 2,709 stable cases. This means that Bahrain has actually gone beyond its capacity limit for isolation and treatment centers. The question now is how will Bahrain deal with the next stage with the daily increase of cases that exceed hundreds?
