More than 16,000 Poor Bahraini Families Receive Aids from Gov't: Official

Bahrain Mirror: Labour and Social Development Ministry Assistant Undersecretary Aisha bint Ali Al Khalifa said the number of Bahraini families receiving social security aids reached 16,359, and the total aids received in one year amounts to 18.5 million dinars.
Answering a question raised by the local Al-Ayyam newspaper about the latest figures and statistics on social aids provided to families and individuals, she said that the number of beneficiaries enrolled in social security reached (16,359) last year, adding that BD18 million and 577,000 were given to them.
She explained that the number of beneficiaries of financial support reached (121,373) families and received BD 109,406,000. Besides, 11,478 persons with disabilities benefited from disability allowance and received BD 14,531,000. BD 88,000 were given to 75 families for fire compensation. The assistant undersecretary continued that the number of beneficiaries of the cash compensation initiative to lift allowance on meat was (159,390) families and benefited from BD 26 million and 784,000. Meanwhile, 11,700 families benefited from reducing electricity and water charges.
