Bahrain Mirror: The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions described the "invitation of a Zionist delegation to an economic conference to be held in Bahrain in April, under the auspices of Labour Fund "Tamkeen", as suspicious and shocking to Bahraini workers and people."
In a statement it issued on Sunday (April 7, 2019), the union called on "Tamkeen's board of directors to review this step that hurts the feeling of Bahraini people who stand in support with the Palestinian rights and reject all forms of normalization with Israel, in commitment to the decisions of the Arab League and the stances of all Arab and Muslim popular forces that see normalization as a stab in the back of the steadfast Palestinians, their legitimate demands and rights to build their own independent state."
The union added that the government said in its final word that some states are forbidden from taking part in the conference, including the Israeli entity, which bears Tamkeen's board of directors full responsibility."
The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions considered that "being an independent and unified democratic trade union organization, it expresses the conscience of Bahrain's workers in rejecting this step, which represents a serious abuse to Bahrain, all its components and its Arab and Islamic history, in which Bahrain has always been among the Arab incubators of the national and Islamic culture and humanity refusing normalization with the Israeli enemy."
