Bahrain Mirror: German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the Saudi explanation of the circumstances of journalist Jamal Khashoggi's death was "insufficient".

"The horrific events surrounding the murder of the journalist represent a warning that democratic freedoms are under assault across the globe," Merkel told a regional convention of her Christian Democratic Union party in eastern Germany on Saturday, according to Bloomberg.

"Nothing has been explained so far and we still demand it be explained," she added.
