Jalila Al-Salman Receives Int’l Prize for her Outstanding Engagement in Promoting education for All

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Education International's Executive Board has named Jalila Al-Salman, as the recipient of the Mary Hatwood Futrell Human and Trade Union Rights Prize for her outstanding engagement and courage in promoting education for all.
The organization praised, in a statement, the role played by Al-Salman in defending women's rights and her contribution "to the Education International (EI) World Women's Conference, UN Commission on the Status of Women and other meetings to advance the goal of equality for women and girls."
It also hailed her efforts in fields of defending teachers' right in forming trade unions, leading a vigorous campaign to demand the release of BTA President, Mahdi Abu Dheeb, although she was arrested and assaulted in 2011.
The Award will officially be presented to Al-Salman at EI's 8th World Congress, to be held from 18-26 July 2019, in Bangkok, Thailand.
