Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Parliament Office Authority has appealed to Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to introduce the new controversial retirement law to the Constitutional Court, a day after the Shoura Council approved it.

A statement issued by the office said that it held its meeting on Thursday (June 14, 2018), presided by Ahmed Al-Mulla, Speaker of the House of Representatives, where they discussed the new pension law and decided to appeal to the King to present it to the Constitutional Court to resolve the dispute regarding whether it's constitutional or not.

The House of Representatives had rejected most of the law submitted by the Cabinet. The law removes powers from the Legislative Council and entrusts it to the Board of Insurance and Pension to decide on the rates of contributions and benefits of retirees.

The legislative council deemed the law submitted by the government as a matter of urgency "unconstitutional."

However, the Shura Council, appointed by the King, agreed to it with an overwhelming majority.
