Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court upheld a 7-year jail verdict against an appellant who participated in an assembly, attacked policemen and set fire to a generator affiliated with the police in Al-Ekr.

A first instance court had sentenced 3 suspects, including the appellant, to 7 years in jail and bound them to pay together 2900 BD for the damages caused to the generator.

The Public Prosecution accused the suspects of deliberately setting fire, on March 18, 2017, along with others to the movables mentioned in the documents, for a terrorist aim, noting that the fire would put people's lives and money to danger. It also accused them of taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at disrupting public peace, noting that they used violence to achieve the aim they gathered for, acquiring Molotov, aiming at using them to endanger people's lives and properties as well as damaging, along with other unknowns, public property, aiming at intimidating people, for a terrorist aim.

The appeals court said that the appellant didn't present anything new in his plea, thus, it accepted the appeals in form, rejected in substance and upheld the 7-year jail term against him.
