Bahrain Chamber of Commerce Introduces System for Holding Committees Accountable and Downsizing

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Chamber of Commerce and Industry reduced the number of its committees from 24 permanent committees to only 10. It also introduced a system of for holding accountable and measuring the performance of the committees periodically, also reducing their terms from 4 to 2 years. Standards were also set for the work of the committees, including the number of meetings held, system of attendance evaluation as well as the achievement of the objectives set by the Board of Directors.
The members of the Board of Directors said in a press conference that the reduction of the committees came to focus on the strategic sectors after the formation of a special committee for restructuring after reviewing the experiences of a number of chambers across the world.
Under the new system, the committees will have to submit periodic quarterly reports along with the minutes of meetings on the website, submit an annual report to the Assembly, as well as have the members sign a commitment to the work program of these committees upon their selection.
The Board of Directors of the Chamber considered that these "radical" changes are aimed at forming effective committees capable of making achievements on the ground and are part of the 100-day plan that was announced by the new council headed by Samir Nass.
