Bahrain Mirror: The Civil Aviation Affairs said that it had lodged a complaint at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) after two Qatari warplanes flew above the international waters, within Bahrain Flight Information Region.

It said in a statement on Tuesday (March 27, 2018) that legal measures were taken and a complaint was lodged at the International Civil Aviation Organization "after two Qatari warplanes were detected yesterday around 14.35 pm (Local time), flying at an altitude of 30,000 feet above the international waters, within Bahrain Flight Information Region (FIR) without prior authorization."

"The two fighters flew deliberately under a UAE Airbus 320, with ident/call sign of A6HMS, en route from Fujairah to Rome, prompting Bahrain's Air Surveillance to intervene and take the necessary measures to ensure aviation safety," the Civil Aviation Affairs further stated.

It added that "the Emirati A320 jet then engaged in a maneuver and flew at a higher altitude of 35,000 feet to avoid the Qatari fighters, which consistently violate international conventions and jeopardize the movement of civil aviation in the region." The Civil Aviation Affairs concluded saying "The irresponsible act was the second in one day to be perpetrated by the Qatari fighters targeting an Emirati jet."
