Parliamentary Committee Bans Exporting Marine Sand

Bahrain Mirror: Parliamentary Committee on Public Utilities and the Environment recommended the approval of a bill banning exporting sea sand extracted from Bahrain abroad. The bill also stipulates specifying definite areas for extracting sea sand through Ministerial Decree. Article 6 of the bill stipulates "prohibiting extracting sea sand from protected areas specified by laws and decrees. Competent Minister issues a decision specifying these sites."Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is preparing to vote on a bill in its next session, which the government called to reconsider, considering that its goals regarding preserving marine life and sand is achieved on ground.
