Appeals Court Adjourns Case of Al-Wefaq Official Sheikh Hassan Isa and 2 Others until March 27 for Sentencing

Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court adjourned the case of Al-Wefaq leader Sheikh Hasan Isa and 2 others until March 27 for sentencing.
The first instance court issued death penalty verdict against Mohammad Ibrahim Radhi Al Touk, and Mohammad Radhi Abdullah Hassan, whole-life sentences against 5, revoked the citizenships of 8 defendants. The court also sentenced 5 suspects including (Al-Wefaq leader Sheikh Hasan Isa and leader in Al-Wafa'a party Sayed Mortada Al-Sanadi) to 10 years in jail and fined each of Al-Sanadi and Isa 100000 BD. In addition, the court handed down 5-year jail term to a defendant, 3-year jail term to 2 others and 6-month jail term to 3 defendants. Meanwhile, it acquitted the seventh and fourteenth suspects and ordered the confiscation of seized items.
The court bound the suspects from the first till the sixth along with the ninth suspect to pay 14000 BD for the damages caused to Gernata Elementary school and 5240.800 BD for the damages caused to police bus.
The authorities claim that the suspects blasted a bomb in Sitra the claimed the life of two policemen Hamed Rasoul and Naweed Ahmad. Meanwhile, they accuse Sheikh Hassan Isa of providing financial support to a "terrorist group", based on financial support he provided to families of detainees and youths chased by authorities over political reasons.
