September 6 Set for First Hearing of Shiite Cleric Sayed Mohieldin Al-Mashaal

Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution referred Shiite cleric Sayed Mohieldin Al-Mashaal to trial after accusing him of "insulting Prophet Mohammad, his companions and rightly guided caliphs during a sermon he delivered". Al-Mashaal is supposed to appear before the fourth minor criminal court on September 6.
Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper said that Al-Mashaal insulted Prophet Mohammad, his companions and rightly guided caliphs in the sermon he delivered. Thus, he was apprehended and referred to the prosecution.
The security and judiciary authorities have launched wide campaign against Shiite clerics and increased the targeting against them after the citizenship of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim was revoked. Meanwhile, the US Department of State expressed concerns over continuous targeting of Shiite clerics and summoning them to investigations.
