Bahrain Mirror: Family of Head of Ulama Islamic Council Sayed Majeed Al-Mashaal complained to the Ombudsman about the deteriorating health condition of Al-Mashaal after holding him in solitary confinement, in response to his protest against Diraz massacre and raid carried out on Sheikh Isa Qassim's house.

The family said that there are fears over Sayed Al-Mashaal's health who is being banned from Iftar meals in the solitary confinement, explaining that he started to feel numbness in his peripheral limbs. The family added that he is also banned from receiving the needed treatment.

The authorities prevented Al-Mashaal and others in the solitary confinement from Iftar meals, claiming that "there are no enough meals", which made them continue their fast for two consecutive days.

Activists confirmed that Al-Mashaal and others are being held in very cold solitary confinement, without having anything to protect them from the bitter cold.

It is to mention that Al-Mashaal is a prominent Shiite cleric who was arrested over the background of Diraz protest held outside the house of the spiritual leader of Shia majority, Sheikh Isa Qassim. Al-Mashaal was charged with assembly and sentenced to 2 and half years in prison.

Sayed Majeed Al-Mashaal was the one who called on citizens to stage an open-ended sit in outside Sheikh Isa Qassim's house. The sit in lasted for 11 consecutive months, however, the Ministry of Interior forcibly dispersed it on May 23, leaving 5 martyrs and hundreds of injuries.
