Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's minor criminal court sentenced on Thursday, March 30, 2017, Imam of Al-Kheif mosque Sheikh Isa Al-Moamen (60 years) to 3 months in prison and 500 BD fine over inciting hatred against the regime.

This is the second time Al-Moamen receives 3 months jail term over the same charge, as he had already been sentenced to 3 months in prison over Friday sermon he delivered on July 26, 2016.

Bahraini appeals court upheld on Sunday (March 12, 2017) a 3-month jail sentence issued against Al-Moemen, over charges of inciting hatred against the regime based on a Friday sermon he delivered on August 2, 2016 in which he criticized the campaign launched by the authorities against the Shia majority in the country.

The security authorities arrested Sheikh Al-Moemen on August 6, 2016 and referred him to trial while in custody. The court; however, decided on September 28, 2016 that he can be released on 500 BD bail, pending trial.

On his day of release, Samaheej Police station referred Al-Moamen to the public prosecution over a new case. The prosecution interrogated him on September 29, 2016, released him but referred the new case to trial.

The Bahraini authorities have launched since June 2016 a vast campaign against Shiite clerics, summoned and arrested dozens of them.
