Bahrain Mirror: Tensions escalate in Bahrain as the trial of Bahrain's high religious authority, Sheikh Isa Qassim, approaches. Sheikh Qassim is tried over the management of the Shiite sect Khums ritual.
The court had adjourned Sheikh Qassim's case until next Tuesday (March 14, 2017), the day marking the 6th year after Saudi and Emirati forces raided Bahrain to help the regime in its crackdown against the popular uprising.
Outside the house of Ayatollah Qassim, the sit-in site witnessed an increase in the number of protesters, who took to the streets of the area in protest, warning against any regime escalation against Sheikh Isa.
Thousands took part in Friday protests denouncing the Shiite religious leader's trial in various Bahraini areas.
Opposition forces called for participating in vast protests on Tuesday, and called for skipping schools and universities, and avoiding travel and shopping.
