Bahrain Mirror: Chairman of the Supreme Health Council, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, said that there is a proposal to introduce small fees in exchange for some medical services provided for citizens. He noted that in the case the proposal was approved and passed by the Council of Representatives, the payment would then be specified. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Khalifa further noted that these fees that will be imposed in case the proposal was approved, will be small fees set to guarantee that health services are not misused.

This announcement came during a press conference held on the sidelines of "The National Plan on Health" event, in a ceremony organized by the Supreme Health Council in the Isa Cultural Center Wednesday night (January 25, 3017).

"The health insurance project was planned in 2014 and its implementation started in 2015. After that, the project was referred to the Council of Representatives to be approved, and we are waiting its approval. Meanwhile, we are working on self-management in hospitals, through preparing them to implement the health system. The issue needs some time, and results will not be clear for people until after its implementation, which is expected to be between 2018 - 2019, with complete implementation in 2020", he said.
