Interior Minister Imposes Identification, Tracking Devices on Small Boats

Bahrain Mirror: The Minister of Interior, Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, issued a decision imposing on all small boats, to have "wireless transmitting and receiving devices owned by the Ministry of Interior". These devices ought to send information about the boat; the identification of its owner, its location, route, and speed, directly to the naval operations center.
The decision stipulated that every captain, owner, investor, or user of the boat, have to install the identification device on each small boat, and operate it in accordance with the technical specifications. On this level, the decision said this installation is "a condition of the small boats' safety requirements".
Moreover, the decision stipulated that all small boats manage in accordance with its provisions within an eighteen-month period from the date it entered into force.
