Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wasat local newspaper said that the residents of Diraz village resorted to nearby villages after the authorities had prevented the drinking water trucks from entering the village to supply it with water.
It added "Dirazis had to go to Bani Jamra village, in particular, and nearby villages to get drinking water."
One of Diraz residents said "I went to all shops to buy drinking water, however, all of them were empty. I then went to Bani Jamra and I was surprised to see that the shop I have headed to was free of water. Thus, I drove to Al-Markh and I failed to get water so I had to continue to Barbar where I saw the residents of Diraz trying to purchase water. I was finally able to get water."
Diraz has been witnessing a tight security siege since the authorities revoked the citizenship of the spiritual leader of Shia majority Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim on June 20.
Thousands of citizens have been protesting outside Sheikh Isa Qassim's house after the authorities revoked his citizenships. However, the authorities have lately intensified its siege and prevented access of food and water to Diraz, aiming at punishing its residents. It is to mention that the Bahraini authorities have been deliberately shutting off internet service in the village from 7:00 pm-1:00 am on a daily basis throughout the past six months.
