Bahrain Mirror: The Security Directorate of the south Yemeni city of Aden said on Tuesday (December 6, 2016) that the anti-terrorism unit of the City Security Department arrested an 8-member ISIS-affiliated military cell, in coordination with the Saudi-led Arab coalition forces.
A statement issued by the media office of the security department, that the anti-terrorism forces were able to arrest members of the cell responsible for assassinating security personnel in various areas of Aden. A number of sound-suppressed guns was found in the possession of the arrested members.
The statement indicated that the initial confessions of the members of the cell refer to their involvement in the murder operations, which including retired officers working in security services.
Moreover, the statement claimed that some members also confessed to taking assassination orders and finances from loyalists to former Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Houthis, and other political parties.
ISIS had declared on November 22, 2016 its responsibility for killing the Aden Airport security officer Colonel Abdul Rahim Ali Al-Dalei in the southern Yemeni city.
Aden, the second biggest city in Yemen, witnesses a very unstable security status, with the growing grip of armed groups, among them extremist groups as Al-Qaida and ISIS.
President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi's forces took full control of the city in July last year, in support of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, after the Houthis and their allies had seized control on some parts of it.
