Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini appeals court upheld a court of first instance's verdict dissolving the country's main Shiite opposition group, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society.
The second civilian appeals court presided over by Judge Ibrahim Krainis and membership of judges Salah Al-Qattan and Mostafa Mahmoud refused on Thursday (September 22, 2016) the two appeals submitted by Al-Wefaq's lawyer.
A lower court had ordered the dissolution of the Al-Wefaq on July 17, 2016 and ordered its funds to be seized by the government.
A court had ruled the closure of all Al-Wefaq headquarters, the reservation of all accounts and fixed and mobile funds, and the suspension of all its activities.
