Appeal Court Upholds Prison Sentence against Dr. al-Samahiji for Criticizing KSA over Sheikh al-Nimr’s Execution

Bahrain Mirror: The Second Bahraini High (Appeal) Court upheld on Wednesday (September 7, 2016), the first degree 1-year imprisonment sentence against Dr. Saeed al-Samahiji for criticizing Saudi Arabia.
The authorities charged Dr. al-Samahiji with "insulting a sister country (Saudi Arabia), publicly, inciting disobedience of laws and regulations in Bahrain, and publicly calling for unauthorized gatherings and protests."
Dr. al-Samahiji had posted tweets on his personal Twitter account harshly criticizing Saudi Arabia for executing prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqer al-Nimr.
