Bahrain Mirror: A member of Bahrain's Special Investigation Unit, Issa al-Manaei, stated that the unit began yesterday Sunday, July 31, 2016, its investigative procedures into the death of one of the detainees, who was held at Dry Dock detention center.
This investigation took place through questioning all the detainees who were present in the same cell, where the deceased detainee was held. Also, the investigation unit will question his father concerning information his family knew about his demise.
"In light of the aforementioned, the Unit ordered the forensic doctor to conduct the autopsy on the body of the deceased to indicate when and how the death occurred, and to prepare a detailed report in this regard," added Al-Manaei.
The unit reserved the clothes of the deceased, and referred it to a laboratory to see whether it contained any information that might be useful to the investigation.
The Special Investigation Unit report claimed, "The deceased was in custody on one of the criminal cases, for which he was interrogated by the Public Prosecutor on July 12, 2016. He did not indicate during the interrogation that he was subjected to any kind of torture or mistreatment, and the member investigating in the matter did not notice any obvious bruises. The forensics doctor assigned by the Public Prosecutor said that there were no bruises indicating abusive action, resistance or cuffing."
"The unit is currently working on completing the investigative procedures into the incident, based on the results reported by the forensics doctor and laboratory," concluded the report.
