Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): The First Administrative Court adjourned the hearing of Al-Wefaq society dissolution until July 4, while the defense team threatened to withdraw from the case.
At the onset of the hearing held on Tuesday (June 28, 2016), the state representative requested adjourning the case with pleading, while Al-Wefaq defense panel requested access to Al-Wefaq society offices to find documents that would help in their defense, stressing that if their request is to be denied, they will withdraw from the case.
The state representative claimed that Al-Wefaq "is still invoking foreign intervention, doubting the judiciary and calling for violence."
The court decided to adjourn the hearing to July 4 and rejected the defense panel's request.
In an address sent to the court head, the defense team announced that Al-Wefaq decided to withdraw from the case after "a court decision to adjourn the hearing to July 4, 2016 and denying us access to Al-Wefaq offices to take the necessary documents for the defense."
"The defense panel sees that it is impossible for it to perform its duty, legally and professionally due to the short period of time available and refusal to allow access to the documents," the address further read. The address was signed by lawyers Hassan Radhi, Mohammad Ahmad, and Abdullah Al-Shamlawi of the defense team.
