Bahrain Mirror: Lawyer Fatima Khodair said that the Bahraini High Criminal Court rejected a request she submitted to allow detainee Ahmad Ismail Ahmad Khodair (18 years old) to attend his mother's funeral procession.
According to the Al-Wasat Newspaper, the lawyer further stated that "Ahmad Ismail Ahmad Khodair has been detained since May 25, 2016 and is being sentenced over charges of assembling and burning tires for a terrorist purpose. The court set a date for issuing its final verdict against the detainee."
Ahmad's mother suffered from Leukemia and was admitted to the hospital to receive chemotherapy for several months, so she wasn't able to visit her detained son.
The lawyer had earlier submitted a request to the prison's administration to allow Ahmad to visit his mother in the hospital due to her condition. The request; however, was not answered.
Khodair also stated that the detainee's mother passed away on May 24, 2016, adding that she submitted a request to allow the detainee to attend his mother's funeral procession, yet her request was rejected.
