Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): A Bahraini court sentenced on Thursday (April 7, 2016) Dr. Saeed Al-Samahiji to one year in prison over a tweet he send via his personal Twitter account.
The Bahraini authorities accused Al-Samahiji of "insulting a brotherly state and publicly urging disobedience of the law and regulations of the Kingdom of Bahrain and publicly calling for participation in unlicensed rallies and assemblies."
Al-Samahiji had condemned in his tweets Saudi Arabia's execution of the prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr Al-Nimr and voiced his support for the protests staged in Bahrain to denounce Al-Nimr's execution.
