US State Department on Zainab Al-Khawaja’s Arrest: We Urge Bahrain to Abide by Commitment to Transparent Judicial Proceedings

Bahrain Mirror: The United States Department of State refrained from urging its ally, Bahrain, to release human rights activist Zainab Al-Khawaja, and only stated that the State Department is monitoring the situation there.
During a daily press briefing held in Washington, DC, the State Department Spokesperson, John Kirby, said on Monday (March 14, 2016) said: "What I can tell you is we're monitoring the situation there. And as before, we strongly urge the Government of Bahrain to follow due process in all cases and to abide by its commitment to transparent judicial proceedings conducted in full accordance with Bahrain's international legal obligations.
