Bahrain Mirror: The Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson, Marzia Afkham, said in a statement issued on Wednesday (June 17, 2015) that security approaches do not help resolve political problems in Bahrain.
Afkham reiterated Iran's call for the release of Sheikh Ali Salman, the secretary-general of Bahrain's main opposition party, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, after the opposition leader was sentenced to four years in prison.
"It is earnestly expected that the (Bahraini opposition) groups, which raise their demands peacefully, be treated fair and reasonably," Afkham added.
She further stated that security approaches do not help resolve political problems in Bahrain, stressing that dialogue with moderate figures and groups would secure peace and stability in the country and would help resolve the political and social problems in the island kingdom.
