Bahrain Mirror: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States expressed their great disappointment at criticism addressed at the Kingdom of Bahrain by the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner, Zeid bin Ra'ad Al-Hussein.

The Gulf countries said that the criticism "does not reflect the reality of Bahrain and its developed record in Human Rights affairs."

In a statement delivered on behalf of the GCC States at the Human Rights Council 33rd session, the permanent Saudi representative to the HRC, Faisal Trad, claimed that Bahrain has gone a long way in the arena of enhancing and protecting human rights.

The Saudi representative urged the "methods of cooperation with countries, the respect of their sovereignty, and adoption of a professional and non-politicized approach".
