Bahrain Mirror: Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said his country will not accept religious campaigns from abroad to take part in Ashura commemoration that will start in a few days and that commemorating the occasion in Bahrain will be limited to citizens and residents.
In a meeting he held on Wednesday (July 27, 2022) with members of the Husainiya Processions Authority and heads of Mattams (Community Centers) in the governorate, the minister stressed that Bahrain's Ashura has special characteristics, and to protect its spirituality, Bahrain will not allow religious tourism.
The minister's remarks came after ads of a Kuwaiti travel campaign planning trips to participate in the Ashura ceremony in Bahrain were circulated.
