Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 100 Bahrainis in less than two months. Death toll has risen dramatically this month killing 56 Bahrainis, although the number of infections has significantly decreased.
Death toll has set a record since the virus outbreak. Deaths recorded a number higher than the previous month (42 Bahrainis) and in June (38 Bahrainis).
Despite the decline in the number of infections in the country, people aware of the issue warned of a new wave of infection with the re-opening of restaurants and cafes and the resumption of schools (optional) on the onset of this week. They said the Coronavirus cases are increasing and setting a record worldwide and even in regions such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, stressing that the risk will increase in Bahrain in the coming weeks.
Authorities announced the reopening of mosques for noon prayer starting next week. Thus, mosques will be opened for worshippers for the dawn and noon prayers only.
Citizens, on the other hand, criticized the authorities' insistence on continuing to prevent visits of political prisoners despite the existence of a glass barrier in the visiting rooms and despite the return of life to the country.
With the total number of cases exceeding the 80,000 (30,000 recorded in the past two months only), the epidemic among Bahrainis continues to outstrip foreigners. About 6,484 Bahrainis have been infected to date, up from 15,000 last month.
The weekly infections rate fell from about 719 last month to 326. Less than 300 infections were recorded for the first time in months.
In the same context, the authorities called on those recovering from the disease to donate blood to save the lives of Coronavirus patients. The Ministry of Health indicated that the donation is open in the military hospital, blood bank on the ground floor from Sunday to Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., indicating that donators can contact the blood bank by calling or via WhatsApp on 17766279.
