Cassation Court Upholds Prison Terms Ranging between 3 Years and Life Imprisonment against 45 Defendants in "Bahraini Hezbollah" Case

Bahrain Mirror: The Cassation Court upheld jail term sentences ranging between 3 years and life imprisonment against 45 defendants in a politically motivated case, known as "Bahraini Hezbollah" case.

The first-instance court sentenced 169 citizens and issued life term sentence against 69 defendants and fined each of them 100,000 BD, except 6. It also fined one of the defendants who is sentenced to life in jail 231 BD and 800 fils for the damages he caused to a security vehicle and set 500BD as a fine against the rest 6 defendants.

The court also issued 10-year jail term against 39 defendants, fined each of 32 suspects 100,000 BD and fined each of 5 others 500BD.

The first instance court handed down 7-year jail term to 23 suspects over the charges brought against them and 5-year jail term against one suspect, after it acquitted him of one of the charges brought against him. The court sentenced 6 suspects to 3 years in jail, fined one of them 100,000 BD, fined another one 500 BD and ordered the confiscation of seized items.
