Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced that Manama has signed an agreement with Washington on the purchase of US Patriot missile defense systems.
The announcement was made during a meeting with Bahraini President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, September 16, 2019.
"We signed today an agreement to purchase our first Patriot Missile Battery Systems. And it couldn't have come at a better time," said the Crown Prince. The Crown Prince said that his visit will focus on discussing enhancing security and trade cooperation.
Raytheon announced last month that Bahrain had agreed to purchase Patriot air defense systems against ballistic missiles and aircraft.
The deal, according to US media reports, is estimated at $2.47 billion with the possibility of supplying additional equipment that will increase the value of the deal to reach $6 billion.
