Bahrain Mirror: London-based activist, Sayed Ahmed Al-Wadaei, said that the director of Women's Prison in Hamad Town, officer Maryam Al-Bardouli, attacked his mother-in-law Hajar Mansour who is serving a 3-year jail term, over political cases fabricated against her as a reprisal due to her son-in-law's activism.

Al-Wadaei stressed that the attack included detainees Madina Ali and Najah Yousef, adding that all of them were transferred to isolation for several hours.

He also stated that the health of his mother-in-law deteriorated and that she received bruises due to the beatings. She also suffered severe decrease in the level of sugar that reached 2, which led to transferring her to the hospital.

The activist further stated that the prison's administration punished the prisoners and prevented them from phone calls for a week. It also canceled a scheduled visit from Hajar to her son Nizar, who is also serving a prison term over the same case.

Al-Wadaei published a tweet 3 days before the incident in which he revealed that a member in the House of Lords asked the British government about the discrimination practiced against female political prisoners in Bahrain, in particular the cell of his aunt Hajar Mansour and her companions.

He also mentioned that among the discrimination and targeting practiced against his aunt and her companions is preventing them from taking part in Ashura rituals and that their cell is only meters away from the smoking room.

An international organization transferred a message from detainee Madina Ali to the Human Rights Council in its session held in Geneva in which she confirmed being beaten and insulted to force her confess fabricated charges.

Human rights activist Ibtisam Al-Saegh published a week ago a voice record for Madina Ali in which she talked about her suffering, inhumane treatment and being denied from practicing religious rites, including those related to Ashura, by the prison's administration and prison's director Maryam Al-Bardouli.

She stated that prisoners Hajar Mansour, Madina Ali and Najah Al-Sheihk are being persecuted, assaulted and isolated. The activist added that they were all prevented from taking part in religious rituals, including commemorating Ashura occasion, which is considered among the most important occasions to Shia.

Al-Saegh said that the guaranteed rights of prisoners are being blocked due to the decisions to restrict them, stressing that detainee Madina Ali is still without a bed, citing an incident of a water leakage into their cell and flooding of the floor.
