Bahrain Mirror: The Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society in Bahrain called for the immediate and unconditional release of Al-Wafaq's prominent member and former MP Sheikh Hassan Isa.
On the third anniversary of the arrest of Sheikh Hassan Isa, Al-Wefaq asserted that targeting religious and political figures and endangering and arresting them was part of the revenge policy and has nothing to do with the law.
Al-Wefaq confirmed that Sheikh Isa is facing a revenge against his political and intellectual history and his social role. Sheikh Isa has won the highest votes by 93% in the last elections before the start of the great popular movement in 2011.
It pointed out that all charges against him were based on politically motivated fabrications with well-known aims and intentions, stressing that he is one of the most prominent advocates of peace in Bahrain.
It added that imprisoning such a national personality proves the failure of the authorities' options and their attempt to escape, which further complicates the political scene and reveals the extent of division between the people and the authorities.
Al-Wefaq confirmed that the arrest of Sheikh Hassan Isa represents a continuation of the policy of political retaliation against dissidents. It further stressed that the sentences issued daily in the most heinous forms of false justice are purely political, and they will not be able to stop the legitimate popular movement.
