Bahrain Mirror: The local Bahraini Al-Ayyam newspaper, linked to the Royal Court, published a piece defending the statements made by Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, who said "Israel" has the right to defend itself after a Syrian response to the Israeli attacks.
"As long as Iran has violated the status quo in the region as well violate the countries with its forces and missiles, any country in the region, including Israel, has the right to defend itself by destroying the sources of danger," the newspaper said, wondering what the problem was with the Minister's comments.
"Do not the states have the right to defend themselves? Is this not the principle guaranteed by religious law, status laws and the principles of the United Nations? Is this principle not one of the most important pillars of the establishment of the United Nations after the World War II? Or do some countries have this right and others don't?," he added.
He further asked, "What is the purpose of the fierce attack on the Bahraini Foreign Minister's tweet and on his honorable person? Is it in order to give justifications to a rogue state like Iran to tamper with the region's security and use all methods of aggression against neighboring countries?"
He also considered that "the rise of voices opposed to the right of self-defense is surprising. Is it required to thwart the communications and negotiations carried out by Palestine in order to reach a final solution for the establishment of the state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital alongside the state of Israel?"
