Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: The Bahraini authorities arrested on Sunday (April 21, 2018) Haj Hassan Khamis Al-Nuami for 15 days pending investigation, over reciting a Shiite popular song.
This came as he participated in religious celebrations marking the birth of Imam Hussein and reciting a popular song that read "I have become sick of sitting in Bahrain, O' mother...Bring my passport so I could travel to Karbala to visit Al-Hussein".
A writer in Al-Watan newspaper Sawsan Al-Shaer had dedicated a whole article entitled "I have become sick of sitting in Bahrain", accusing the reciter of not belonging to Bahrain and alienation from national identity and further demanded to punish him by law, adding that the song is an unforgivable crime.
